These terms cover the Jay Pscot Library application (also known as PSCOT) and this website at smisco.biz/jpl. By downloading, copying, or using the software, you accept them.
License
The Jay Pscot Library application is free, open-source software released under the MIT License — see the LICENSE file. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under those terms. The MIT text governs your rights in the software; the rest of this page is plain-language context, not additional restrictions.
Software, not content
The MIT License applies to the application source code — the PHP, JavaScript, CSS, database schema, and supporting files in the distribution. It does not apply to books, articles, stories, uploaded documents, cover artwork, logos, branding, or other catalog content published on any instance of the library (including pscot.com), unless that material is separately identified as licensed. Writing remains the property of its credited author.
No warranty
The software and this site are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software or its use. You run your own instance on your own hosting; test it against your own environment before relying on it.
Your instance, your responsibility
Once deployed, your library serves your catalog under your control. You are responsible for the content you publish, the permissions you grant your readers, your backups, and your instance's compliance with the laws that apply to you.
Availability
This site is offered as a convenience and may change or become unavailable at any time without notice. Once you have downloaded the distribution, your copy keeps working regardless of this site.
