These terms cover the Linux Note Pad application and this website at smisco.biz/lnp. By downloading, installing, or using Linux Note Pad, you accept them.

License & use

Linux Note Pad is proprietary software, © 2026 smisco. It is offered here free of charge for you to download and use on your own machines, as provided. The source code is not distributed. Please do not resell, repackage, or redistribute the software, or attempt to reverse-engineer it except to the extent applicable law expressly permits.

Your notes are yours. Nothing here claims any interest in what you write, and the files stay in plain text on your own disk so that remains true whatever happens to this software or this site.

No warranty

Linux Note Pad and this site are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and copyright holder are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software or its use — including any loss of notes. The application is written to protect what you have written, with atomic saves, a trash rather than an immediate delete, and an export that hands your notes back as ordinary files. None of that is a substitute for your own backups. Keep backups.

What it does — and does not do

Linux Note Pad is a tray-resident note pad. It runs entirely on your machine: it stores your notes as plain text files in your own data directory, reads and writes only its own configuration, makes no network connections of its own, and collects nothing. It targets GTK 3 desktops with a system tray, and is built and tested on Linux Mint with Cinnamon.

Availability

This site is offered as a convenience and may change or become unavailable at any time without notice. Software already installed on your machine keeps working regardless of this site, and your notes remain readable with or without it.
